The Idle Swine's to the Peak District.
26/10/2010
Great day out, though the weather took a turn cooler, it was
a dry day and 10 idle swine's turned out for the ride. Me and Trace, , Bob and
Holly, Decca and his mate (sorry I forget his name) Rod, Tom, Keith, and Pete
met at the lay-by in Kings Bromley as planned and Terry met up us at Sudbury. We
then went off the main roads at Boylestone and basically made our way to
Carsington Water on some real lovely lanes and B roads with a small bit of A
Road. The cafe at Carsington is really nice, with a view over the lake, we had a
good stop there with cake for some, chips for others, and at least one sausage
bap. Pots of tea ect, it was a good place for a natter. Free parking of course
as we went right on the path and nicked the cycle stands! :)
From there we took the B road via Kniveton to Ashbourne, and
then went through to Ilam. Rod's Honda is fitted with long range tanks of course
and there was a bit of concern when the only petrol station I could think of for
miles was closed by an electrical fault. Luckilly we decided to press on the
Ilam and lo, there was a station I forgot all about. Ilams a great place and the
swines were soon lying all over the grass eating and drinking and smoking false
fags! :D
From there we wended our way via lanes and B roads through
Oakamoor, Cheadle, (where Terry said tarra) on to Draycott, Cresswell,
Hilderstone, Sandon and a short blast down the main A51 to the A518 and Amerton
Farm, where various swines did nothing to resist the bakery and sweet shop and a
nice feed was had there too. After this we said tarra to Pete who went the other
way to Stone. The remainder of us went on to Uttoxeter and across Blithfield
Dam, through Colton and Blithbury, said tarra to Rod, Bob and Holly, then off we
went to make our way via Upper Longdon and across the Chase where Dec and his
pal said tarra, me and the mrs then led Keith and Tom over the chase to Dobbies,
and back home.
I really enjoyed it today, regardless of how cool it was, all
round the lanes and B roads make it good riding on a bullet!
